Fear
July 24th, 2007 by yuriI was having a conversation with Adrian last night, and he mentioned this:
“fear-based decisions almost always screws someone over.”
I thought about what he said, and I really think it’s true. One should never make decisions based on fear. Our context of discussion last night was on the topic of management, specifically business management, but I think it applies to just about everything. Too many people, when faced with making a difficult decision, worry about what they might lose rather than look at what everyone has to gain. They hold the mentality of scarcity - that there’s a finite amount of what’s good (money, friends, love, etc.) and that the more they share, the less they will have for themselves.
I’ve been guilty of fear-based decisions myself. I’ve made them in past relationships. You may have made them too. I”ll try not to anymore. You should too.
Don’t make a decision because you’re afraid of something, make a decision because it’s what you want. Feel the fear and go for it.
